Firstly I opened After Effects and went to file, import, import file and imported the sample video provided by Microsoft. Then I added some folders, for example movie clips and images. I then added the movie clip to the movie clip folder.
Then I created a new composition and made the stage a preset to NTSC DV and then made sure that the duration was correct, in this case it was 30 seconds.
I then dragged my movie clip into the stage and scaled it to size so that it filled the stage area.
I then clicked the render button so that it would play in real time.
After that I selected the first five seconds of the video and right clicked then clicked the "trim crop to work area" and that then made it possible for me to focus on those five seconds.
This is the cropped space which i then used the render button to make sure that it played in real time.
This is those five seconds in real time.
I was experimenting with images in this composition so firstly I opened an image and dragged it onto the stage.
I then made sure that the image on the stage was selected. Then using the hue and saturation effect I selected both of the colourize settings and made the image different colours along the time line. Selecting a different colour every time I moved along the timeline.
Then I put the composition in a que for rendering and changed the settings on the render settings to draft copy. I then changed the export point to the desktop. And then I clicked render.
This is the video that I rendered.
Experimenting with some ideas and effects I made this glowing light effect on this image. Making it look like sun shafts. To do this i used the same technique as before just with a different effect. By changing the intensity and angles I got this effect.
